This is the first Hard Rubber Reel made by the Leonard Rod Company and it is engraved Presented to William Mills by L.R.L. It is approximately 2 1/4in in Diameter and has brown rubber side plates and an Ivory Handle. This was the first reel with Hard Rubber Sides that came out of the Leonard Factory and is Circa 1890. The L.R.L. stands for Lewis Reuben Leonard the son of Hiram Leonard and the Factory Manager at the time. There is only one of these reels in existence and I have had it in my collection for about 30 years. Arthur Mills told me that this was presented to his father and I purchased it at the Mills Auction when Mills was closed. The RAREST of RARE!!!
